well i got the new ZUK today

looks great has some problems but nothing that cant be fixed

the BAD

needs a clutch
the rear drive shaft fell out when we strapped it down?
the front drvie shaft needs spacers
the wipers dont work
i need tires!
the body is fairly rough but nothing a sawsall cant fix
needs shocks

The GOOD!
motor runs grreat
the t-case works
has manual locking hubs on the front
has aluminum shakles
16 inches of lift!
came with steelies

the goods

the plan
full 6-point roll cage
redo the whole body make it look nice Smile

front winch bumper with a new 10000 pound winch (home made)
new home made rear bumper
new rockers made by me
new seats with 4-point harnesses
make a flat bed kindof like woody's with 2 seats and harnesses
ans some other stuff that i know it will need but wont find out until later

i know this isnt right with out pics but it is too dark outside to take some so i will get some in the morning

clutch isnt t hat hard and then you know its good once is changed...

i got a princess auto tranny jack adapter for a floor jack and found the only thing was the truck had to be really high in the air on the jack stands....
did you want to go bigger than 32s?? or just got decent coin for them??

i need wipers u have seen me wheel the water/mud hit the windsheild too fast and i cant see where i am going and the 32's are sold! so 34x9.5x15 interco narrow ss tires will be going on it in the spring

luke a few words of suggestion! get rid of that z link thats horrid it will bend the first time out, your shackle angle front and rear is WAY to straight up and down you need h=to have them angled back in the rear and a touchforward in the front! minor fixes
however the "lift blocks" unless i am wrong looks like some square tube welded to the axle tube and i would suggest changing that! they are to high and unlike a lift block have to further strengthening or gusseting and being that high look like they could infact fold over!

but again minor shit you could change you got the main thing being you got the truck and it really looks to me like it requires some abuse

Yep I think the Z link should go for sure.....I dono about changing the spring mounts they look to be 1/4" they should hold up or add stifiners if it makes you feel better Wink

they are welded to the axle tube

got the jeep 100% finished taking it apart and it is on the trailer ready to go away

and on the zuk i started chopping the back off

well here are some updates got the back half taken off

cut off 8 inches of the rear frame replaced it and added 8 inches

put in two new crossmembers one for just support the other to hold to the new fuel cell

got the old tank out and scrapped it

oh and the jeep is gone forever she got CRUSHED HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!

buy seats, harnesses, fuel cell, tires,

make bumpers, roll cage, rockers, spare tire carrier, extend the front of the frame, make the flat floor out back

fix the drive shafts and other misc drivetrain

i hope to have it done by the charity run

Lookin good! Are you going to weld in some splice plates where the frame extention joins the frame? I would highly recomend it ....that way you know it's solid Wink

well another update i got the rear bumper cut and sized needs a trailer hitch and two clevases and it is good to go

i got the hole front cut off so no more fenders or inner fenderwells and the grill is all gone

the rockers are all gone too but eh new ones were started but i ran out of material so we are on hold for those until tomorrow

cant wait to get this done

You should not have had to cut anything, the entire front comes off in one part or three depending on how you want to do it.

True and the best part is, they are not Philips heads either, they are some crazy tool that they sell in Japan, but in most cases the Philips on one of the hand held impact tools that you wack with a hammer works well enough.

well it has been a while since i have worked on it but i got some more done

rear bumper is done

and the driver side rocker is all done

i also got my roll cage tubing today 143 feet of 1 3/4 by .120 wall

cant wait to get it done!

Looking good, you need to look at correcting that shackle angle on the front though, with either a longer spring a revolver or moving the forward mount back a bit.

You might want to go Ranger, it looks like the F150's are 3" wide and they would be stiff. The rangers are a non centered pin and could be put in with the short side forward that way you have a better approach angle.
