Welcome to so4x4 .........sorry to hear that you have a jeep.....just kidding.......no I'm not LOL.
Have you taken a realy good look at your rad? I mean try to look through the cooling fins they get cloged up with dirt real easy.
It may be your thermostat or water pump it's realy hard to say for sure but 9 times out of ten if it's not that the rad is pluged it's a bad water pump.

I had a 92 XJ and it overheated due to a worn out rad (the fins were justs gone) If that is not it change the thermostat and look into the waterpump, best of luck.

What year is the Jeep? If it is a closed cooling system, I am betting it is the plastic overflow bottle has cracks and is Bleeding pressure and possibly allowing fluid to leak. I have had several and all but one needed it replaced. The other big issue with the closed system is the motors are very tough to burp the air out of. Final thing to look at is your clutch fan and electric fan. The electrics are prone to failure and well the clutch units do wear out, so check them both.

its an 89 cherokee. i have changed the waterpump, thermostat, coolant resovoir and put a new belt on. even with all of those parts it will still boil and see it steam until the tank shakes like a tea kettle. i guess ill try a new rad next.

a rad would have been alot easier than doing water pump???
a very wise man once told me that throwing parts at a problem isnt gonna do much but make you broke

the jeep needed the water pump, was weeping water like crazy. changed in hour and a half or so. fairly easy job. how do we check to see if clutch fan is toast?

i had problems with my 89 running really hot....hosed the fins and a lot of mud came out....and i mean i ran the hose for about 15 mins on it...runs about 60 degrees cooler now.....air didn't work either so i removed the airs rad to let more air through the primary rad.
