Hi

Hi

im new here.. My name is tom and i live in niagara..

I currently have 2 toyota 4runners... pretty much stock other than a system that i am parting out to start my off road addiction....

heres a pic of my 2 yotas... the gold one is currently not on the road.. i am undecied if iwant to do my blue daily driver up or do the gold one up and keep the blue one stock....

i really want a sas with a locked rear... ...'

and i also love british sports cars

austin healy... tricarb straight 6 4 seater red on red!!!
lostsoul

Nice little machine, As for the Yodas it all depends how much banging you want to do with them.
Uchi

welcome, how did you hear about us?  cool toys
big t

i searched google looking for places to go offroading in ontario...
and what do you mean by bangin????
i only want to be able to recover jeeps and eat them ... and i can do that stock!

im not looking for serious rock climbing .... but why bother upgrading an ifs??  why not do it right?? i mean the ifs can do alot dont get me wrong...but i want to be able to hold my own with the 85 sa runners
lostsoul

LMAO Jeeps taste like Chicken. For around here a well built IFS will get you through a lot of it, but if you are serious then yes SAS is the way to go. What size tire are you shooting for?
big t

eventually???? or right now hahah... im a perfect world 33 or 35 are big enough for me.... but im looking at 31.10.50r15s right now...or if i do a 1 inch body lift i might go for 33s soon...
lostsoul

Hell if you are staying 33's for a while stick with the IFS, it will stand up to that.
89lxstanger

open diff the ifs will stand tought to 35's and in the mud the ifs is actually better than a sas
big t

yeah ifs with a rear locker hopefully E lockers will prolly get me further than a sas would... and i probably have all the tool to do the ifs lift and stuff myself
Uchi

the toy ifs is tough as nails man, you wont hurt it
big t

i know this is off topic but do you guys know where i could get some hardware

http://www.wabfab.org/products/suspension/2ndgenqd1.jpg

im looking to make these.. and i need to find out what the bottom peice is called.. like the turnbuckle that the pin goes in.. cuz one of my front sway bar broke and i want to be able to disconect it at the trail and 125 bucks for these is a joke.

thanks

Welcome Aboard and I like pulling i mean recovering i mean low range full throttle with a jeep on my strap. Shit did i say that out loud LMFAO !!!!!!!!!!!!!
lostsoul

Poor Jeeps HAHAHAHAHA!
Uchi

thats your sway bar quick disconnect kit.  you dont need something exactly like that to make it work
big t

just a straight threaded rod and some nuts and bushings would work??
lostsoul

As long as you do not want to take it off quickly.
big t

yeah i would like to be able to disconnect quickly maybe ill keep looking for something like in the pic.... i was thinking fastenal or someplace...
hi on4

welcome. my 89 yota has ifs and 33'' been offroading for 3 years now and the truck has 42500km it is tough and my DD. the only thing i added was a AUSSIE LOCKER in the front for  $235.00
big t

you have a front locked but not the rear??? sweet.. do you drive 2wd in the winter on the street?
lostsoul

big t if you lock the front and drive with both hubs locked it will not turn for shit, but if you leave one hub open you will still have traction and still be able to turn.
mudbug

Don't wory about locking your front T just lock the rear and for god sake get some real tires and get your but into some realy sick chit  Cool
big t

no i dont want to lock my front... i just didnt know someone in snow would drive on the street like that but i guess the one unlock would work... i got a line on a locked 4.10 set for my rear... a slighty body lift and some pi9nch weld pounding and some used 33 inch mudders should fit on my trail truck
mudbug

Sounds good git er dun thumbup
painterphil1

Nice Austin, I'm just finishing up a 64 which used to be the same color but is now original blue.
lostsoul

Locked one or the other will help a lot. With the IFS they have a smaller front end so I would be more inclined to do the rear as it will take more abuse. That and some 33's will make for some fun.

guys are running the rubicon on welded 7.5 toyota ifsthere aint nothing in this area that will hurt one!
big t

yup... only thing im worried about is the 22re towing a 22re... cuz i really dont have the money for insurance.... unless i siwtch plates i mean paint my trail rig the same color...
lostsoul

To be honest I think I would want the 22RE for anything including towing. That 3.0L is a Turd man on all counts!
big t

yup this is my 3rd yota with the 22re.... its a good engine but sometimes in the winter in the morning they dont like to start if they arnt garage kept...
lostsoul

Plug her in lol! Pretend it is a diesel and keep it warm.
big t

dunny but i dont think either has a block heater.,.. that i have found
lostsoul

That is a Bummer, you can do a Frost Plug one from CTC!
big t

well i have a garage,,, and a heat gun or electric heater have helped if i do leave it outside... i have it narrowed down to the cold start injector timer as i have swaped the injector... but on this runner i have a few lines in the way that arnt in my no options trail rig that i dont the part off of.....

unless somebody replied on page three (which I have not read yet) those are called heim joints.

you can get them from lots of places online - but many are going to be larger than you need.  McMaster-Carr would probably be a one-stop shop for all that hardware.  I'm not sure if there are any Canadian shops that are similar so you could avoid the cross boarder PITA.
big t

thanks man... im going to be crossing the river this week to get a new bulb for my saltwater aquarium.... some things you cant just get in canada much like the harware... i would pay 110 for the same bulb that is 60 in tonowanda go figure..... i know im getting my soron steel ifs truss shipped to the ups warehouse because to get it into canada would be insane
hinzerj

Welcome aboard.... Can't wait to see you on the trails ...... good luck with the yoda why not put 33 on both  Very Happy
